The recent events in Paris and also the bringing down of the Russian airplane full of tourists returning home from a holiday in Egypt has the world rattled, and rightly so. These events are horrible to contemplate. The wreckage left behind cannot be calculated. But the wreckage to come will only be enhanced if people bury their heads in the sand, lock away their passports and stop traveling. Then the terrorists win, and win big.
The terrorists want to totally disrupt our way of life. They hate freedom, they despise culture other than their own, 7th century one. People laughing, loving, appreciating one another’s differences – it all drives them crazy. All they want to do is kill, kill, kill. Well, they cannot kill our spirit! And they cannot kill our wanderlust.
We’ve dedicated more than a quarter century to helping our clients get the most out of their travel experiences. This mission continues, even in the face of beasts who wish to deprive us of normalcy. Keep traveling. Show the terrorists that they cannot destroy your future enjoyment of life.
Yes, the recent weeks have seen more than 350 people killed by the terrorists. But to put this number into perspective, there are far fewer people killed each year by terrorism than by just driving on American highways. (In 2013, 32,700) And far, far fewer than people killed each year in America by gun violence. (In 2013, about 30,000 or 100 people every single day) We lost 129 souls on November 13 in Paris. But every day in America, we lose 200 due to cars and guns.
