Schwerin Castle was built in the mid-19th century
The castle of Schwerin is something out of a kid’s coloring book. And, it’s gotten more colorful as the years have passed since the reunification of Germany in 1990. When I first saw this castle, it was gray and crumbling. Now it’s shining and beautiful from the outside, although a visit reveals that the interior courtyard still has a long way to go before it’s ready for prime time. Nearby, the Dom of Schwerin has also been given a bit of attention especially to the interior Gothic arches in the ceiling, which shine with their new clean coat of paint.
The capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a jewel, getting better with each passing year.
