Custom Photography in Europe

Family historians who collect documents for years — or even decades — can be missing the "Big Picture" when it comes to truly understanding where their ancestors came from. European Focus answers the questions "what does my ancestral village look like?" and "what is the landscape like around where my ancestors lived?" Photography by European Focus is the next best thing to being there.

Photo Project Copyright Rules and Guidelines

The photographs, CD-ROM and the written materials that I have produced for your portfolio are for the enjoyment of you and your family members. This is a work for hire project whereby I retain all rights to the images. In this unique case, you have copyright release to use these materials in your personal genealogical projects. I only have a few rules regarding the use of the photographs and other materials that I have produced which make up your unique portfolio on your ancestral location or locations in Europe.
  1. You are allowed to make as many photographs from your CD-ROM as you want for family members. However, I strictly forbid the selling or distribution of these images to people not related to you.
  2. I encourage you to use the materials, photos and other pieces of your portfolio that I have produced in your family genealogy, including scrapbooks, published books or pamphlets and other media, including CD-ROM or other computer publications. You may use the photographs on a family Web Site or other means of sharing with your family members, or those on the Internet who are related to you. If you create a website using some or all of your photographs, please notify me so that I can update your file. This prevents confusion in the future. You may download the photographs from your CD-ROM into your computer for sharing via the internet with your family. You do not have to ask for written release to use your photos or other written materials that I have created for these purposes. You are not authorized under my guidelines to put your photos on CD-ROM or in other form for the purpose of selling or for mass production for selling or for free distribution to people who are not connected with your immediate family. Any unauthorized sales or distribution would result in legal action if discovered. I must take a firm stand on this issue to protect my rights and to date, this has never been a problem.
  3. When or if you use the photographs and other materials that I have produced for your portfolio, you must credit me in the below manner. You may either credit me under each photo or other material used, or use one single credit in the foreword portion of any book, pamphlet or other media (including Web Sites and Internet postings). Please credit me in the following way:

"European Focus lives up to all the promises made, including visiting the churches where ancestors worshipped, the charming villages that show us how they lived, plus the delightful experiences in historic hotels and restaurants."
— Clara Harsh, Ohio

"We have gone on several package tours to Europe, they cannot even begin to compare with the attention and detail that Jim goes through to provide a most pleasant trip."
— Bob and Marlene Rokicki, Michigan

"Traveling with Jim is like traveling with your best friend plus with his knowledge, expertise, and language skills you see more and learn more. You can't find a better way to travel."
— Ralph & Marge Kroehler, Illinois

"I could never travel more than 100 miles away from home again without James and Jenean Derheim"
— Nancy Sauers, California

"We saw and did things we never imagined were possible, and we were truly spoiled the entire trip. The only problem with James is that he did such a great job, we would not want to travel again without him."
— Pete and Judy Hildebrandt, Oregon
